This week, Ela Darling continues to teach Sovereign Syre about Hedy Lamarr. It's the early thirties and the precocious teenager is a rising star in Austrian cinema. After convincing her parents to let her run off to Prague by herself, she is given the starring role in Ecstasy, an erotic masterpiece about a young, sexually repressed wife who finds release in the arms of a lover much younger than her husband. The film set the world ablaze with it's unfettered depiction of the female form and pleasure. The film established her as a star, a rebel, outcast.
